God Bless America!

Free phone wallpaper to help memorize scripture

What has happened to 2024! Where has the time gone? It feels like summer is slipping away and Christmas… the thought of it, the get ready, the shopping, shuts m down. And as it should right now, it’s not time to think of Christmas, unless you’re a crafter or greeting card designer. lol

Right now it’s time to think about summer, vacays, cookouts, warm weather, fireflies, and one of my favorite times of the year – the 4th of July! In my hometown of Bristol, Rhode Inland, we celebrate the country’s oldest and longest parade in the country. We celebrate for an entire month with concerts, races, fireman musters, contests, a carnival, balls, pageants, and our famous red, white, and blue stripe. There are family gatherings with relatives coming from all over, the streets are busy and everyone decorates their house or storefront.

Why do we celebrate? Freedom! In some cases I think many have forgotten about why we celebrate. Our freedom is sometimes overshadowed by the parties and festivities. But when the troops are marching in parade we are quickly reminded of the MIAs and POWs, the wounded survivors and the sacrifices they and their families have made. They have made scarifies, in some cases given their lives to keep our country free.

We are free to worship in the USA. Our troops fight for religious freedom in this country and I worship The One True God who gave the ultimate sacrifice of His Son for the cleansing of our sin. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one goes to the Father but through Him, John 14:6.

As part of exercising religious freedom, download this free wallpaper for your phone or device to help you memorize scripture, just click the image and save. If you want more free wallpaper search Memorize Mondays.

Time marches on and goes by quickly. We can easily lose sight of why we celebrate the 4th of July with all the parties and decorations. Let’s not take our freedom for granted. God Bless America.

Unusual National Days in May

May 6, 2024

Happy National Tony Day!!!! If your name is Tony today is your day!!!
There are so many national days and so many national month of something day I thought it would be fun to highlight some of the unusual national days, for instance today, May 6 National Tony Day!

Wishing all the Tonys a Happy National Tony Day!

Who doesn’t know a Tony or an Anthony? Maybe you know someone who is female and named Tony or Toni. I happen to know several, one who happens to be a cousin, one who is a dear friend and one who is a sibling of a dear friend.

So how did May 6 become the day to celebrate Tonys? It was designated by the birthday of Tony Blair, “Sir Anthony Charles Lynton Blair is the longest-serving prime minister of the Labour Party of the United Kingdom.” Tony is short for Anthony or Antony or in the female form Antonia. I had a classmate growing up Antoinette, but we called her by her full name. However, my mom had a friend named Antoinette who went by Toni. Don’t know why you need to know that, the point is Toni can also be short for Antoinette. My cousin’s nephew (which would be my second cousin) used to call him “Ant-knee.”

What does Tony mean? In Latin: Priceless one, highly praiseworthy, Greek: Flourishing, highly praiseworthy. There are other meanings, Google it see what you can find and leave your findings in the comments. The name Tony was among the top 100 favorite names in 1955 and was among the top 100 favorite names. In the 1960s, it was among the top 50 most commonly used boy names.

Who are the famous Tonys?

  • Anthony Hopkins
  • Anthony Perkins
  • Tony Bennett
  • Anthony Quinn
  • Tony Shaloub
  • Ayyyyy OH Oh Ayyy Tony Danza
  • Tony Curtis
  • Tony Orlando
  • and my favorite Tony the Tiger!!!

So to catch up on the unusual National Days in May,

May 1st was National CSS Reboot Day!!! (hmmm maybe that should be a greeting card).

May 2nd was National Password Day how many times have you had to change a password because a site or an app has updated?? GGGGRRRR?

May 3rd was National Two Different Color Shoes Day

May 4th was National Rhode Island Independence Day alright i was born and raised in Little Rhody and I did not know this. How did I not know this?

May 5th was Museum Lover’s Day I have to admit, I love museums. I do enjoy art museums. Maybe I need to open a hand lettering museum dedicated to the lost art of cursive hand writing, hand written cards, writing utensils, history of pens, and quills, or maybe there just needs to be a greeting card?

I wanna hear your comments. What unusual national days do you celebrate?

Coloring Page

July 1, 2022 Galatians 5:1

There have been many men and women who have given their lives for our freedom. Posting a little early for the holiday weekend. Take some time to make some space for creativity and relaxation, print this coloring page, pour yourself a cool glass of lemonade and relax. Remember that God is still in control, He sees what is going on in our world, it’s not a surprise to Him. We still live in a free country.

Happy 4th of July!

Joy of the Lord is My Strength

Photo by Alexandr Podvalny on Pexels.com

Nehemiah 8:10 – “… the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Ever wondered what that really means? How can the the Lord’s joy be our strength? Well, first we need to look at the who, when, where and why of the passage. We need to read the chapters and verses before it. So, let’s journey through the passages.

Most scholars believe The book of Nehemiah was written by Nehemiah himself. Nehemiah exhibited exceptional leaderships qualities and he was a man of prayer. He depended deeply on God and knew how to draw strength and assurance from Him. Nehemiah was a volunteer of sorts. He was deeply affected by the dismal state of Jerusalem and I believe God used this to move Nehemiah forward in rebuilding the wall and spiritually restoring the people of Israel.

“… the joy of the Lord is your strength

Nehemiah 8:10

Without going into too much background, I just want to look at verse 10 – “Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” How does the Lord’s joy give me strength?

Chapter 8 starts with Ezra, a leader of the Jews on the first day of the seventh month read the law to an assembly of people, men, women and children, and all who were able to understand. As they listened to Ezra the people began to weep for they knew how disobedient they had been to God. This was known as the Feasts of Trumpets. Everyone was to stop working and remember the Lord. Everyone started out praising and worshipping God. As Ezra continued to read the law, they wept and mourned because they became aware of how disobedient they had been. The reading and receiving of the law was to be a joyous time. God’s Word has the power to convict, convert and revive and we can be joyous when we are convicted because true conviction leads to repentance and restoration with God. “For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.” – 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NLT). When we repent and change we are restored and that brings us JOY! GOD’S JOY!

How happy are you when someone you’ve hurt forgives you? Have had to repent to someone for hurting them, especially someone you love? When you realize what you have done and feel bad, or sorrowful and want to make things right, you go to that person, apologize and ask for forgiveness. When that person forgives you, you both are so happy and the relationship is restored. How happy have you been when someone apologizes for hurting you?

In Zepahnaih 3:17 – The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” God is love – 1 John 4:8 & 16 1 John 4:8 – But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:16 – We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.  John 3:16 – For God so Loved the world, He gave His only Son (paraphrased).

He will take great delight in you … will rejoice over you with singing.’

Zepahnaih 3:17

All we have to do is receive that forgiveness and His love!!! He takes joy in us when we turn from our sin and and are deeply sorry for what we have done. It is a time of restoration and a time to celebrate like people did in verse 10 of Nehemiah. Because God is joyful in my repentance I can draw strength from that.
