Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

©CARYNSCORNERBTQ 2022

Thank you to all who have followed me over the past two years! Wow, two years, where has time gone? 2022 is almost done! As we welcome a new year we also welcome changes. I personally don’t like change but I hope the coming changes to the Kedge Anchor will inspire others to continue to walk closer to God and continue to offer hope.

This will be the last post until 2023!! Wow 2023!! God is our only hope for the new year. That is one thing that will never change. Our God is a big God and He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We never need to worry about Him changing.

So just a few changes that you will see, the coloring pages and Memorize Mondays are going away, maybe for awhile, maybe come back looking different, I dunno, haven’t decided. I have decided to combine my art – Caryn’s Corner and The Kedge Anchor. The two are just merging and to make my life simple and hoping to make a bigger impact combing the two made sense. Weekly devotional blogs will stay.

There is some really cool content coming up so please stay tuned. And thank you again to all my followers. Stay anchored in Hope!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

New Year – New Hope

What is hope? What is your hope for 2022? Better health, better finances, better job, better relationships, better grades … we all start a new with newness of something in mind. New always brings change and change can be scary sometimes. The future can look scary on the horizon with the way the world seems to be spiraling out of control, changes for sure to come.

The good news is, we can have hope despite current circumstances or in whatever situation we find ourselves. There is always hope. Merriam-Webster defines hope as;

  • 1. to cherish a desire with anticipation to want something to happen or be true,
  • 2. to desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment,
  • 3. to expect with confidence

What gives you hope or where do you place your hope? If you’re wanting good weather for travel do you place your hope in the meteorologist? Meteorologists are human and make mistakes, though they can be fairly accurate in their predictions. What about the future? In what or who are you placing your hope? Are you counting on yourself, family, friends?

Hebrews 6:19 says “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. …” Jesus is the only hope for this crazy world and our future. If we anchor in Him, our hope is firm and secure. No matter what happens in the world, which one day will pass away, God’s word will remain and it’s there in His word we can anchor ourselves in hope. Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”

Merry Christmas from The Kedge Anchor

There’s no denying it’s been a rough year; one that I am sure we all will remember and one we probably want to forget. But there is one thing thing we should remember and never forget. And that is the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. From the cradle to the grave Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for us so that we could spend eternity with Him – John 3:16.

Jesus left His rightful throne in Heaven, in glory, to be born as a human so that He could experience everything we experience here on earth. He understands our sorrow, our disappointments, our discouragements, our failures, our temptations, our physical and emotional pain. He understands our happiness, our success, He understands it all and nothing surprises Him about us, nothing goes unnoticed. He is the Alpha and Omega – Revelation 22:13.

We don’t know what the new year will have for us. But, be encouraged, God goes before us and He is before us in the future, in 2021. He is sovereign and knows all that will happen next year. As we go into 2021 and we set goal and make plans, invite God into those goals and plans. We make plans but God directs our steps – Proverbs 16:9. Resolve to “Get Hooked” on God’s Word so that when life hits you are anchored in His truths with a Hope that’s steadfast and secure. God is waiting for us to reach out to Him. I encourage you to walk into the new year with Him.

So no matter how rough the waters in the new year become, “getting hooked” in God’s Word and in His truths will anchor us so that the storm may rage but we will stand firm. And let us not forget the birth of Jesus and the sacrifices He made for us and remember the Hope that has come.

Happy New Year! 2020

AHOY! Welcome to the Kedge Anchor.

post

Jeremiah 29:11 ” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)

Happy New Year! WOW the year 2020. Sounds so futuristic. Then there’s all the 2020 jokes, 20/20 vision in the new year. LOL The future can be exciting. And it can be scary. Simply because we don’t know what the future holds.

But it doesn’t have to be scary. The Bible tells us “be anxious for nothing.” Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (NIV) You can ask God anything. He already knows what’s on your mind and heart. So why ask, you may be thinking. Because he loves you, he wants to hear from you. Just like you want to hear your spouse, your parents, your friends or those you love to say “I love you.” You know it, but you want to hear it. Jesus is the same way.

Matthew 6:25-34 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (NIV) Sometimes this is easier said than done.

But when you think about it, like verse 27 says, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Worry isn’t changing anything. It’s just stealing your peace.

We can have confidence in the future. Confident that God knows all, he is omniscient. Psalm 139:1-4O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all.” Job 28:24 ” for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.” He knows us in the past, Psalm 139:13 “For you created me my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” He knows us in the present ” Matthew 10:30 ” And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” And we shed hair constantly, don’t we? So, he knows at any given time how many hairs on our heads, even the gray ones. And he knows our future, Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD…”

Worry is assuming responsibilities that God never intended for you to handle, …” I’m not sure where this quote originated, other than Facebook, but that’s exactly what we are doing when we worry. It’s hard NOT to worry, I’ve been there, but I have also been there in total surrender to God and HE HAS ALWAYS COME THROUGH!!! YAY!! VICTORY! WHo doesn’t want that? Sometimes things turned out totally different than how I planned, but it always turned out for the best. Sometimes I was in a holding pattern and for a reason. Usually to transform me and grow me and time for him to just do his work. Because, 1 Corinthians 2:9 “However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him. (NIV).

Every time a hard situation comes up, try to let go and give it to God. And fill that void of no worry with praise and prayer. Reach out to someone in need and watch those plans he has for you unfold. The future doesn’t have to be scary. Not when you know who holds it. It’s hard, I know, but trust, little by little that trust will grow and VICTORY will be yours!
Happy New Year!
