Evil

What was Meant for Evil, God Means for Good.

A while back, I was working in South Florida during Hurricane Andrew. After the storm, a co-worker was sharing a report of a church in the area that had been flattened. Bibles and hymnals strewn all over the neighborhood. Papers, bulletins everything that was inside was now outside. Down the street was an adult store, what appeared to be untouched by the storm.

Many people were asking “why”? Why would God allow the church to be destroyed and the adult store untouched? Some would see it as evil. But what was meant for evil, God meant for good. Think about it for a second if the scenario was reversed. What if the adult store was demolished and the church was unscathed? Think about all the pornographic magazines and books strewn about the neighborhood for anyone to see. Now I don’t know if there was any internal damage, which very well may have happened, but God was protecting the neighborhood.

The church could and would rebuild. As far as the adult store, I don’t know. But the point here is God is in control. God was actually protecting the neighborhood from the pornography being exposed. One can definitely say the word of God was spread that day. God’s creation may be suffering from the effects of sin, such as enduring storms, decay, etc. but God is still in control. Like the disciples in the boat with Jesus, Matthew 8:23-27. The disciples freaked, Jesus slept, the storm raged. One thing the disciples did,(even though they were freaking out) they did seek Jesus in the storm, (isn’t that what we should do when we are freaking out?) even though He was right there, they were frightened, so they called on Him. Except now we don’t have to wake Him, He is available 24/7!!

Maybe we should be looking more for God’s work in what seems to be the work of evil. Was it bad that the church was destroyed? Jesus said the temple would be restored in three days, John 2:19. His blood was strewn all over the day He sacrificed His life for us. Evil may have been done to Him, but what He did for us was far from evil. His sacrifice ordained by His Father, Jesus’ willingness to go to the cross, was grace, mercy, and love for us all!

No matter the storm, seek Jesus, look for the good He means.

February 14, 2022 – Romans 5:8

Happy Valentine’s Day!!! The verse today reflects God’s love for us. He sacrificed His Son to die on the cross and Jesus willingly sacrificed His life for us while we were still sinners. He didn’t wait for us to get our act together, He didn’t wait for us to measure up, because He knows we never can. But through Him, through His sacrifice we can have forgiveness.

February 7, 2022 -1 Corinthians 13:6

Valentine’s Day is just a few weeks away and February is a great time to set aside time to let our loved ones how much we love them. We can show love in so many ways, by holding a door open for the person behind us, by asking to do an errand for neighbor or by just giving someone a hug who is having a hard day. Love is about doing the right thing no matter the cost.
Jesus loved us so much He sacrificed His life for us on the cross. Love means so much more when a sacrifice has been made.

Happy Monday! Hope these coloring pages have helped in memorizing scripture. As we embark on a new year my hope for this blog and these coloring pages is that not only will it help you to hide God’s word in your heart (Psalm 119:11) but it would bring a little curiosity to your memorizing. Is there a particular word that stands out to you in a verse? Research it. Look it up, read it in other versions, read a commentary on the verse. There are so many websites and resources to guide you deeper in God’s word. Jesus is the Light of this world and the Light of Life. He just wants you close to Him and reading scripture is just one way to do that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

November 15, 2021 – Colossians 3:15

Memorize Monday – free coloring page, Colossians 3:15- “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” God asks us to be thankful. If you want to know the will of God, be thankful. Yes God has more than that for us to do, but it’s a good place to start if you are looking to do God’s will. We were called to be thankful and the peace of God to rule in our hearts. There are many benefits to being thankful. Being thankful can improve mental and physical health. Having a heart of gratitude can foster empathy and allow us to be content with what we already have. For are you thankful for today? August 30, 2021 – John 6:54

Memorize Monday – free coloring page John 6:54 “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (NIV)

Jesus is the bread of life, John 6:35. The Spirit gives life, v.63. When we are reading God’s word we are partaking of His word, His flesh, and are being filled with His Spirit, (His blood), John 1:14. In verses 40 and 47 Jesus says anyone who believes in me will have eternal life. In verse 54 Jesus says whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life. All we have to do is accept Jesus’ offer. He is asking us to believe by faith, Ephesians 2:8-9. Our good works will not get us into Heaven.

Is Jesus calling you today? He doesn’t require you to clean up your act. He’s not waiting for when you overcome your problems. When you are sick you don’t wait until you’re feeling better to go to the doctor you go when you are sick. Jesus came because of your problems, He wants to help you, He wants to give you eternal life. Let’s face it this world, it isn’t going to get better. And once Jesus comes to meet us in the clouds, there won’t be another chance. Will you let Him help you today? If not now, when?
